SOME TREES MUST FALL is a speculative fictional film that ravels in the aftermath of the felling of a Khaya Tree along the fringes of a protected nature reserve in Singapore.
It explores the impossibility of permanence in land ownership among nonhuman actors in Singapore, drawing from research on laws and regulations that dictate local land ownership and areas slated for imminent development.
The project is part of an ongoing research which looks into the notion of pre-dating the death of pockets of currently undisturbed natural spaces in lieu of the Land Authority’s Masterplan, which employs a futurist dictate on urban planning in Singapore.
